“IBM’s Watson Gives Jeopardy A Run For It’s Money” (Response Marketing Blog)

Humans and computers used to be separated by one key aspect: the ability to think critically. Not anymore. Meet Watson: IBM’s smooth-talking supercomputer named after the company’s first chief executive, Thomas J. Watson. Last week Watson was brought to its first true test of cognition in a true American arena: Jeopardy! The silicon superman was pitted against the game show’s two biggest titans of trivia in what some say was a battle for the reputation of humanity. Ken Jennings and Brad Rutter have both proven themselves multiple times to be true grandmasters of the Jeopardy battlefield. Jennings dominated the show for 74 straight games back in 2004, and Rutter holds the record for biggest all-time money winner in the show’s history. Needless to say, Watson seems to have had his work cut out for him. On the contrary.

“Tweet Me! Valentine’s Day in the Twittersphere” (Response Marketing Blog)

Can you hear the love bird chirping? This Valentine’s season, the classic candy of our hearts has taken a leap into the new age of expression: Twitter. NECCO has added two new phrases to their Sweethearts brand this spring that capture our modern ways of showing our love. This year, the phrases “Tweet me” and “Text me” can be found in boxes of the candy manufacturer’s loveable heart-shaped wafers for all to share. Of course this isn’t the first form of digital communication that has been added to the candy. As the internet rose to popularity and higher social usage, the message “E-Mail Me” was added to keep up with the new millennium. All of the above now makes the classic “Fax Me” seem like a relic of an age since passed.

This past weekend marked the end of the NFL season, and sports fans far and wide plopped on the couch to overindulge in chicken wings and nacho cheese until the button on their pants flew off. “Fine Tuned: The Downfall of Linkin Park” (QuadNews.net)

So it appears that Linkin Park is back on the scene for the first time since Transformers become ‘cool’ again. Linkin Park always sets in a certain feeling of nostalgia for me. I remember sitting in my room as an angst-ridden young 7th grader assembling my first stereo system, anxious to put in my first CD- Hybrid Theory. From the second I closed that six-disc changer I was blown away by the flawless combination of turntables and charged alternative rock. Aside from everyone’s auditory wet dream, In the End, Points of Authority quickly became my favorite teenage jam. Something about the concept of a “Hybrid Theory” just worked for them. Of course the 90’s had been heavily saturated with other rap/rock counterparts, but Linkin Park hit the nail right on the head. And yes, despite what anyone tells you, Reanimation was an awesome album. Soon after, the much anticipated follow up, Meteora, hit the scene. Another flawless release in my personal opinion. In this album they utilized the individual talents of both Mike Shinoda and Chester Bennington more extensively on separate tracks. That disc was a solid cover-to-cover listen that stayed planted in my Walkman for a strong few months.

It seems that you can’t turn on the radio anymore without hearing one verse by the strange and distinguishable rap star. Trademarked by his raspy voice, unusual rhymes, and long dreadlocks, Lil Wayne has been the talk of the hip-hop/rap industry for some time now. However, that was not enough. Last year, the eccentric rapper announced the beginning of his recording of a rock album.
